Do you want to free yourself from your limiting beliefs?

Have you ever set out to pursue a dream, do or say something important to you, make a change… only to end up procrastinating or not doing it at all? Have you ever wondered why?

Most of us are disconnected from our inner voice—the part that resides hidden in our subconscious and influences our decisions, for better or for worse. It’s that voice that says, “Go on, you can do it!” or “Don’t even try, you won’t be able to do this; it’s not for you.” Today, I’m going to talk about the latter case: your limiting beliefs.

What are limiting beliefs?

First, let’s understand what beliefs are. All the information we receive is influenced by our perception of things, our experiences, culture, society, and family. Most of our beliefs are formed in childhood—from around ages 0 to 6—before our conscious mind becomes active. During our early years, the rational mind doesn’t intervene; ideas are automatically ingrained in the subconscious.

Limiting beliefs are those that often hold us back from achieving our dreams or reaching our goals. We accept them as truths unconsciously, without the rational mind’s involvement.

How to detect limiting beliefs?

When you go to do something you want to achieve, something you want to do or say, and you feel that you can’t or feel afraid, pay attention to your inner voice. What is it telling you? Why is it saying you can’t do it? Is what it says true? Does it make sense? This will help you get to know yourself better and slowly understand what your fears are or which beliefs are limiting you.

How do we work on limiting beliefs in coaching?

A coach helps you detect, through specific techniques, which are the beliefs that limit you, to understand them and reprogram them so that you can reach the best version of yourself without unconscious blocks hindering your personal or professional growth.

Knowing that limiting beliefs exist is already a big step in your growth. Now it’s up to you to work on them and delve into them to shine even brighter.
