What are your superpowers?

Don’t think you have superpowers? You do! In this post, I’ll help you discover them if you’re unaware of them and enhance them once you’ve identified them.

Superpowers are your strengths, especially in how you relate to others—like superheroes who help humanity and rush (or fly) to save us from potential disasters sent by the forces of evil.

If I asked you: What are you really good at when it comes to people? What would you say? Think about what makes you shine in your relationships with others—family, friends, at work. Superpowers are those qualities that add value. For example, you’re a great listener, and people come to you to share their problems. You connect easily with others, making them feel they can trust you. You make people laugh or use empathy to connect and try to understand how others are feeling.

In the fast-paced world we live in, where days fly by, we sometimes forget how important our superpowers are in improving the lives of those around us. It could be as simple as making someone smile, having a meaningful conversation, or making someone feel heard. We forget how rewarding it is to make someone feel good because of us—that sense of being useful in a conscious way, free of ego, with only good intentions.

How to Identify My Superpowers?

Reflect on these questions: What am I really good at when it comes to people? How do I add value to their lives? Why do others come to me?

Ask your close circle the same questions you’ve asked yourself. Why? Because often, how we see ourselves is quite different from how others see us. This can go either way:

  • Underestimating yourself: For example, your friends might think you’re incredibly valuable in helping them make decisions because they see you as strong and confident. Meanwhile, you don’t feel all that secure or strong.

  • Overestimating yourself: Perhaps you believe the advice you give others is excellent and think you know exactly what they should do. However, others feel you don’t listen and only share your own opinions.

It’s important to understand your superpowers both from your perspective and the perspective of others. Compare and contrast these views, then embrace and enjoy your strengths consciously, without letting your ego take over.

How to Enhance My Superpowers?

Use them! Be generous, and remain aware of how rewarding it is to help others—making them smile, adding value, being humble, and showing compassion. When you feel that your interactions leave you with a genuine smile of fulfillment in your heart, you’ll know you’re using your superpowers.
